(Mère commence par lire une lettre inédite de Sri Aurobindo:)

About the present civilisation, it is not this which has to be saved; it is the world that has to be saved and that will surely be done, though it may not be so easily or so soon as some wish or imagine or in the way that they imagine. The present must surely change, but whether by a destruction or a new construction on the basis of a greater Truth, is the issue. The Mother has left... (riant) this question hanging and I can only do the same.

C'est admirable! (Mère rit) Admirable. Et c'est écrit en 45, c'est-à-dire pendant la guerre – la guerre n'était pas finie.

Il y a deux autres lettres:

To bring the Divine Love and Beauty and Ananda into the world is, indeed, the whole crown and essence of our yoga. But it has always seemed to me impossible unless there comes as its support and foundation and guard the Divine Truth – what I call the supramental – and its Divine Power...

Ici, c'est clair: il dit que ce qu'il appelle le «Supramental», c'est the divine Truth [la Vérité divine], et que ça doit venir d'abord, et que le reste vient après.

Et pourtant, depuis quelque temps et de plus en plus, il y a une Réponse tout à fait concrète à une sorte d'aspiration (ou d'appel, de prière) où je dis au Seigneur: «Seigneur suprême, manifeste Ton Amour» (c'est la fin d'une longue invocation où je Lui demande de manifester tous les aspects l’un après l’autre, l’un après l’autre, et la fin se termine comme cela), et alors ce qui est remarquable, c'est qu'il y a, à ce moment-là, une Réponse de plus en plus claire et de plus en plus forte... Mais Sri Aurobindo dit que, d'abord, il faut établir la Vérité, et que c'est la suprême Vérité, la divine Vérité, qu'il appelle le Supramental. Et cela correspond à ce que j'ai remarqué quand je traduisais ce dernier chapitre sur la «perfection de l’être», dans le Yoga of Self-Perfection; je me disais toujours: «Mais c'est seulement l’aspect de Vérité; tout ce qu'il exprime, c'est l’aspect de Vérité; toujours, partout, c'est le côté de Vérité; et son action supramentale est une action de Vérité.»

Je ne savais pas qu'il avait dit cela, mais c'est écrit clairement:

...But it has always seemed to me impossible unless there comes as its support and foundation and guard the Divine Truth – what I call the supramental – and its Divine Power. Otherwise Love itself blinded by the confusions of this present consciousness may stumble in its human receptacles and, even otherwise, may find itself unrecognised, rejected or rapidly degenerating and lost in the frailty of man's inferior nature. But when it comes in the divine truth and power, Divine Love descends first as something transcendent and universal and out of that transcendence and universality it applies itself to persons according to the Divine Truth and Will, creating a vaster, greater, purer personal love than any the human mind or heart can now imagine. It is when one has felt this descent that one can be really an instrument for the birth and action of the Divine Love in the world.

Et puis la dernière:

The importance of the body is obvious; it is because he has developed or been given a body and brain capable of receiving and serving a progressive mental illumination that man has risen above the animal Equally, it can only be by developing a body or at least a functioning of the physical instrument capable of receiving and serving a still higher illumination that he will rise above himself and realise, not merely in thought and in his internal being but in life, a perfectly divine manhood. Otherwise either the promise of Life is cancelled, its meaning annulled and earthly being can only realise Sachchidananda by abolishing itself, by shedding from it mind, life and body and returning to the pure Infinite, or else man is not the divine instrument, there is a destined limit to the consciously progressive power which distinguishes him from all other terrestrial existences and as he has replaced them in the front of things, so another must eventually replace him and assume his, heritage.

Non, il y a seulement deux-trois jours, quelqu'un m'a posé une question similaire, c'est-à-dire: «Est-ce qu'il y aura encore une grande destruction ou pas?» – Ce sont des choses dont on ne parle pas.

Tu sais que X est tout le temps à répéter: «Il va y avoir la guerre, il va y avoir la guerre, il va y avoir la guerre... même si je ne veux pas, il y aura la guerre»!! Et il avait dit que ce serait pour avril – nous sommes maintenant en juillet.

Il est évident que, pour le moment, dans le monde, ce sont les Chinois qui représentent l’attitude agressive; ils se sont même disputés avec les Russes à cause de cela – une dispute sérieuse. Tu connais l’histoire, je suppose.

Ce sont des choses dont il vaut mieux ne pas parler.

Puis Mère revient sur la deuxième lettre de Sri Aurobindo:

Et si l’Amour était manifesté avant la Vérité, il y aurait des catastrophes.

C'est curieux, pendant très longtemps, pendant des mois, presque des années, toujours il y avait quelque chose qui m'arrêtait quand je demandais la manifestation de l’Amour; tout à fait comme une espèce d'impression: «Non, ce n'est pas le moment, ce n'est pas le moment...» Et puis, tout d'un coup, un jour c'est parti, et il y a eu une Réponse formidable; et c'était déjà il y a plusieurs mois; et depuis ce moment-là, il y a une Réponse – une Réponse qui va croissant.

Mais je ne peux pas dire en toute sincérité que la Vérité est manifestée!

Peut-être que la préparation est suffisante?

Peut-être que c'est une question individuelle – pourtant, mon action n'est pas individuelle, c'est tout le temps la perception de l’atmosphère terrestre.

Ça ne fait rien, c'est bon à dire!

Santé, ça va bien?

Ça va, douce Mère.

Bon. C'est cela qu'il faut – important, très important: garder le corps en bonne santé, une sorte d'équilibre. Il faut garder l’équilibre. Très important.

Le reste, ça ne fait rien!
